Artist Spotlight 2024: Edu & Vitor
Edu & Vitor is Sertanejo-style duo formed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The duo composed of Eduardo Britto and Vitor Dutra formed in November 2021. Edu & Vitor released their first EP, with original songs written by Eduardo Britto and Vitor Dutra as well as a Live DVD Performance Edu & Vitor Na Gringa.
The genre and style of Sertanejo has a long history dating back to the 1920s. From which era or eras of Sertanejo do you draw the most influence from, and why?
We believe the Sertanejo that influenced us the most is early 2000’s. It was the start of a “new” and “modern” way of doing sertanejo. The lyrics got a new way of being written and also the rhythm changed from a melancholy rhythm to an upbeat rhythm.
You’ve seen some great success with the release of your live video concert Na Gringa. Do you plan on doing more recorded performances like that?
Yes, we are always looking to release new projects. We recorded Na Gringa live at Mango’s Kitchen Bar in Vancouver. We are planning on doing different editions of Na Gringa. Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary are cities that we’d love to record a live show one day.
What are the groups goals for the rest of the year?
Our main goal for 2024 is to keep expanding our brand and the Brazilian music scene into other cities and countries too.
If you could collaborate on a song with anyone, Artist, Musician, Producer, etc. Who would it be?
If the collab is with a Brazilian sertanejo artist we’d love to record something with Jorge & Mateus or Henrique & Juliano. They are the biggest Sertanejo artists in Brazil right now. If we think about North American Country singers, which is the genre that is the closest from Sertanejo in English, we would love to collaborate either Luke Combs, Luke Bryan and Morgan Wallen. We would love to start singing in English, and we have great examples with Lu & Robertinho, from Brazil. Here's a quick peek of what Country + Sertanejo would sound like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_C7Z6JiIZhE. Also in this video is an English version of the song Evidences, which is the peak of our concert: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJaTnwJf7DM. We call this song the Brazilian anthem.
If you could be a part of your own dream festival, could be with any artist from any time period/any genre. Who would be your top 3 acts on the festival?
We’d say Jorge & Matheus, Matheus & Kauan, Cristiano Araújo.
Edu & Vitor have a show coming up at The Blarney Stone, Thursday April 18th. You can purchase tickets here.
