September Artist Spotlight: Bombargo
September’s artist spotlight Bombargo, have been making notable waves within the music scene this past year. The movin’ and groovin’ goodtime'n band from Saskatoon, sold out their hometown EP release party last year, gathering a thousand of their fans. Since then, they’ve caught the eye of many through their passionate live shows, conscious messaging, and catchy-groovin’ hooks.
With their funky indie vibes, mixed with layers of pop, rock, and R&B; they’ve created a sound that truly moves and grooves. Provoking inspiring sing-along anthems and magical harmonies, with a heartfelt message. It’s evident that their unique cross-pollination of genres has contributed to them landing gigs opening for legendary acts like John Butler Trio, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and Joel Plaskett. Recently, their song “Mr. No Good” was highlighted by one of the world’s most famous pop stars, Taylor Swift. The hit landed a spot on her Spotify playlist “Songs Taylor Loves”, making them the only Canadian Indie band on the list. In result, they landed the #1 spot on Spotify's "Indie All-Star" playlist with their single "All the Same". To top it all off, they've received a seal of approval from Richard Branson.
"Bombargo is well on their way to becoming a household name, globally." - Richard Branson
“An endorsement from the world’s biggest pop star is more than you can ever ask for. We have got over half a million streams on the song she shared, and it resulted in a lot of press, but more importantly, gave us some really awesome industry connections that we are building relationships with now. A lot of opportunities have come from it and we’ll be able to make them public soon!” - Bombargo
Bombargo is currently planning a world tour to coincide with their debut album release in 2019. In the meantime, they have been keeping busy headlining festivals throughout North America, and have recently debuted their single “Oxygen”.
