October Artist Spotlight: Una Mey

Our October Artist Spotlight, Una Mey, is still giving us butterflies with her debut summer EP “Butterflies & Red Wine”. Her music conveys a sense of vulnerability that encourages others to get in touch with their emotions, and to not be ashamed of how they may feel.

With a main objective to write open and honest songs, she highlights her struggles with anxiety, insecurities, and her path towards self-love throughout the 5 song EP. “Butterflies & Red Wine” is a testament to who she is creatively and personally, and showcases an undeniable lyricist who weaves in a mix of confessions, fears, and dreams through various genres, whilst capturing us with her vocalist charm.

The Vancouver based songstress celebrated her debut with an EP Release Party in August. It was a night filled with anticipation and rewarding accomplishments, shared with loved ones and complete strangers. Since then, her first two singles released off the EP, “Such Is Love” and “Butterflies & Red Wine” have reached over 20,000 plays on Spotify combined. With the numbers continuing to grow, Mey is jumping right back into planning, writing, and recording new material.

In the next upcoming months, you can expect a number of singles to be released, alongside music videos. Una is currently in the midst of a music video campaign for her third song off the EP titled “Try Me”. She will be teaming up with Entertainment Forever, the film producers who previously created the music videos for “Butterflies & Red Wine” and “Such Is Love”.  In addition to new material, Una Mey will be taking the stage at the Railway Stage and Beer Café on Thursday, October 25th, as a part of “The Monarch Series” show — an all female headlined show, that celebrates empowering female artists within the local Vancouver music scene.
