Queer themed Rock/pop pianist/singer/songwriter Matthew Presidente (he/him/his) has been a part of the music scene in Vancouver for 20 years. Independently recording and releasing 6 full length albums, he has been involved in a wide range of musical collaborations and performances.
Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matthew has been showcasing his original material with standing shows at notable music venues (often with his 4-piece rock band) such as The Roxy, The Railway Club, The Backstage Lounge, XYYVR and Numbers Cabaret since 1999. No stranger to the Vancouver queer community, his involvement in Vancouver Pride has seen him enthusiastically recognized on the pride Main Stage for 12 years running as well as being a featured performer at the International Outgames at the Plaza of Nations in 2011 among headliners Ace of Bass and Dragonette. He has performed with the likes of local favourites (Vicky Sjohall, Brad Pedwell, Tara C Taylor) as well as some of music’s legends (Jane Sibbery, Mr. Big, Carole Pope and the late Long-John Baldry). Likely the highlight of his career, Matthew was on stage with Patti Smith for a guest appearance – it’s a story!
In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Matthew launched a new YouTube series – ‘World is Watching’. Along with a rotating roster of LGBTQ2+ musicians and allies, he brings the world musical collaborations, signature originals from his catalogue and songs of hope in a concert like format to be viewed right from home. The series is pure and simple – solo piano/vocal in his living room. His musical contacts from all around the world are collaborating and recording their parts from their own homes. Since March of 2020 the show has collectively seen thousands of views and gained a loyal following of a friendly crowd seeking a sense of togetherness through music.
Among the highlights of his catalogue, 2017’s ‘Every Single Sin’ is sultry & sinful, bluesy & gutsy with added rock ‘n’ roll, rap finished with beautiful melodies and harmonies, ‘Every Single Sin’ is loosely based on the idea of cardinal sins applied to the life of a gay man through songs of lust, shame, greed and pride. Listen for influences of Tears for Fears, Bauhaus, Billy Idol and Depeche Mode with Matthew’s own inimitable style.
2019’s ‘With the Boys’ is a celebration of Matthew’s musical catalogue as well as a long history of musical camaraderie – both spanning nearly 20 years. Some of his best songs are revisited “with the boys” – a band of musicians that grew up in Tsawwassen, Ladner and Richmond and have all been performing together and inspiring each other for many years.
His latest release, the late summer, small town love song – ‘Standing in the way of Love’ held the #1 spot on Qreviews chart for over 4 weeks. Co-written by producer Jordan Esau, the song is a casual and natural tune in the context of a very unnatural time. Reflecting on choices and confronting vices this is an anthem for overcoming and finding your own way. It invokes nostalgia, small town memories, passionate summer nights but ultimately facilitates reflection. This new song is a prelude to a forthcoming album in 2021.

Consisting of both lead singer Kevin Roy and instrumentalist Jon Fennell, L∞PS are currently establishing themselves as a top up and coming act in BC Canada. Established as a full time duo in 2019, they refused to let the global pandemic slow down their progress, performing shows consistently throughout BC, made the top 100 finalists in the 2021 CBC Music Searchlight competition, and performed a full 6 song set in the (Digital) 2021 Vancouver Island MusicFest.
The Acoustic-Pop duos 11 track self titled debut LP was released on all streaming services on February 25th, 2022 with the album singles “Parachute” and “Checking Out” preceding its launch. Recorded with BC Music Hall of Famer/Grammy nominated producer Doug Cox, “LooPS” is a throwback to the classic albums of the past in that is a true no-skip record, full of both upbeat radio friendly jams, and soulful story driven ballads.
As singer/songwriters, they write and compose all of their original material, and due to their commanding stage presence their LIVE performances are known for being both memorable and captivating for the audience due to their original takes on cover songs which include creative mashups that always entertain crowds! The duo perform an acoustic guitar and piano based style with loop pedals incorporated into their sets. Best described as a mix of Ed Sheeran/Lewis Capaldi with the harmonies of Simon & Garfunkle, they are certain to entertain your crowd! L∞PS have a library of literally hundreds of covers they perform from the 1960s to current top 40 hits. Because of their unique and versatile style, they can perform anything from small venues with intimate settings, to high energy large scale shows and everything in between.
L∞PS have a loyal and rapidly expanding fanbase throughout Canada, with over 3000 followers
across social media platforms. Determined to be the hardest workers in the room at all times, they even have a weekly podcast series “Diary of an Indie Band” which has quickly gained a
following since launching at the start of 2022.
